Pipe End Scanning & Dimensioning
PT Explora Prima has service in the line of Offshore Pipe Laying, completed pipe end dimensioning on an offshore pipelay project will help the client to smooth out field operation. Hand-held scanning was used to inspect both pipe ends, which allowed for pipe geometry to be determined to avoid mismatch during joint welding of 100 pipes. 200 pipe ends per day were captured by a single hand-held scanner and an inspection report was produced from within the database to mitigate “Hi-Lo” during joint welding. The 3D profile from scan data was used to determine the rotation required between 2 joining pipes to get a minimum “Hi-Lo” effect caused by pipe ovality and to improve welding quality at the field joint.
